Boston Kinvara 7 Miles: 28.00 | Brooks Launch 3 Miles: 75.00 |
|
| | Today we did a speed workout on the track. It was 800-600-400-200 twice with the 800/600 at two mile pace and the 400/200 at mile pace. The first set I felt pretty good, but my legs felt a little heavy. The second set I was slightly off pace and just felt pretty sluggish. Overall it was a decent workout though! The rest of my miles came from a two mile warm up and a two mile cool down. Shoutout to gan for roasting me while I did abs and to Collin for making me get this blog! ;)
| |
| | Slept in then went on a nice, easy recovery run. 7 miles at like 7:30 pace and it felt really good!
|
| | Today was freezing! It was windy and sleeting soo bad. The run was good, though. Eight miles with an average pace of like 7:10. The first four were above 7:30 because we were running straight into the wind but the last four we picked it up quite a bit. I felt really good, except for the school "lasagna" (if you can even call it that) sat like a rock in my stomach. After the run I did abs for 20 minutes and called it good for the day!
| |
| | Today was high mileage with speed. I wasn't quite able to finish my mileage, though because I had to take off before school got out so as not to get caught in traffic. I will add a few miles later in the week. Speed was good though! My legs were a little heavy but by the end I was doing better. It was just 6 by 400s, so not too bad. Overall, it was a good day!

1600 (1 Miles) 00:05:01 | | Not very happy with how today turned out.... 5:01 in the mile. Eight miles overall and just felt pretty tired. Talking with Jamie she thinks that it is in the mental game that I am losing in races, so any tips would be appreciated... With the times I am hitting in practice I should be able to do much better, so hopefully it only goes up from here!
| |
| | Ran with the team for about three miles then split off with Ryan and Connor. On our way back Ryan and I felt super good so we were running around sub-6:50 and ended up with an average pace of 6:57 for the eight miles. I felt really good, much better than yesterday! After the run I did abs for 20 minutes and then biked for half an hour.
|
| | We had a nice speed workout today! 5 by 1000 meters at two mile pace. About three minutes of rest in between each one, which was a little bit less than it was supposed to be since I did it with varsity. My splits were 3:16, 3:18, 3:19, 3:21, 3:22. So I was slowing down by the end because my legs felt pretty wrecked, but overall I was pretty happy with it!
| |
| | Just a nice six mile recovery run today, about 7:08 pace. It was nice to sleep in a little bit and I have to say that it was the perfect weather for a run this morning!
|
| | We had a medium distance run today. Our route was a little strange because we just went straight down Main Street the entire way and there was no shoulder on the road, but we survived without getting hit by cars. After the run Collin and I picked up stuff to ask to Prom, so shoutout to all the people who started asking a month and a half early so that everyone has to now... 😒
| |
| | I didn't have a lot of time today because I had piano and am heading to the BYU b-ball game, so I just a squeezed in four miles with a couple of pickups as pre-meet. Felt pretty good and am super pumped to race tomorrow!

Davis Invitational (2 Miles) 00:10:33 | | Today was awesome! Before the race I was freezing cold, my it band was sore, and I was pretty stressed out but as soon as I started I felt pretty confident. I ended up getting a PR of 20 seconds in the 3200, which was awesome because I felt like I finally broke through a little bit! Afterwards I just finished up mileage and then went to Pizza Pie with a ton of people. Shoutout to Gan because it is her birthday and she is super awesome!
| |
| | Today was just a nice recovery day. I was only supposed to go 7, but decided to go 8 since I did a little bit less on Tuesday. I felt pretty decent, but definitely tired. After the run I did some squats with Connor and then freaked out and ran home because apparently ACT scores came out today.
|
| | Once again went a mile over but it was all good because I got to run with a group rather than by myself. After the run I did some high jump with Collin and the hincks and discovered why I am not a high jumper... Then we did some abs and pull ups than made some smoothies at my house. Definitely a successful day!
|
| | Today we had a sick speed workout that we did at the UVU track because that is where our next race is. We did 6 400s at mile pace then 3 200s all out. My splits were 66, 70 (whoops), 67, 66, 67, 67 for the fours then I tired out and got 30, 30, and 31 on the twos. Afterwards we kinda just laid on the grass and then finished up mileage. Shoutout to Asa because it is his birthday, and even though he is hecka mad at me right now I hope he has a great day.
|
| | Today we did a loop where we went up killer hill on the way out and then the dip on 1200 on the way back. So it was quite the dramatic run in terms of elevation change! I felt really good today, so that was good. We pretty much negative split every mile the whole run so that was sick. After the run I biked and then did some abs at Thom's house while we devoured all his power balls. Also, both Connor and Josh got their mission calls today so that is sick. |
| | Well, you could say today kinda sucked. I was warming up to race and the outside of my foot all the sudden started hurting super bad. I went and got it wrapped by Janice and she and Jamie told me I probably shouldn't run. Hopefully it is fine tomorrow, so I guess we'll find out!
|
| | So it is not a stress fracture or anything super bad! I just have to take a few days off and watch it really carefully.
|
| | Just three miles today to start easing into it. I ran mostly on the turf other than the two four hundreds we did for pre meet. My foot felt pretty good! At first it was hurting, but as I kept going it loosened up and felt great!
| |
| | Whoops haven't been on in a while
|
| | I only went 4 cause I had to run at like 8:50, so I didn't have a ton of time. I just ran to the track to do pre meet since I'm gonna be in Boston this weekend and so have to race tomorrow. It was a little weird running in pitch black, but pretty fun too!
|
| | Had to run on the treadmill of our hotel in Boston
|
| | Pretty much the coolest run ever today! I ran with my mom from our hotel up to the top of Bunker Hill, where one of the first battles in the Revolution was fought. There was a pretty cool monument we stopped and looked at. We then ran across the Hudson River and onto the Freedom Trail. We ran past multiple cemeteries that are over 300 years old, past the Old North Church, Paul Revere's house, etc. It was cool because it was all pretty much brick and cobblestone streets plus it was super hilly so that was fun. Turned around at 3.5 and headed back to the hotel.
|
| | Just a nice run through Charlestown today. We then went and watched the Boston Marathon and cheered on my dad. It was such a cool race! People were lining the streets for miles and it was soooo crazy! My dad did pretty good. Not his best, but he was happy with it because he didn't have as much training as he is usually used to.
| |
| | I just ran four today because we were heading out to Salem to see where the witch trials happened. It was pretty darn cool!
|
| | 12 by 400s around bunker hill
|
| | Whoops. Coach told me before I left that I was racing at Davis, but turns out I'm not so that's great.
| |
| | Today didn't go quite as planned. I woke up and felt a little funny all morning but went out and tried to do the hill work out I missed yesterday. I only made it through the first set before it ended pretty badly... I had to go to the Heaps house to use their bathroom and then felt so awful I could barely make it home. I'm going to try to finish it on the bike later, but I'm still just kinda sitting on the ground in my house feeling like crap. 😁
|
| | 8 miles today with a pretty big group. It was super fun cause it was a recovery day and we took it real slow, about 8 minute miles except the last mile which we dropped to under 7. Connor was commentating the last mile, so Asa pulled out a big finish and won. While running we finished planning Prom and messed around a ton. It was a pretty great run!

| Race: |
Herriman duel (1 Miles) 00:04:55 | | Finally did it! Official time of 4:55.32. Felt super good the whole race so it was awesome. Shoutout to thom for pacing me! Afterwards I did the 800 and got 2:16 which isn't super good but I was pretty happy about it. Then I didn't get to finish my miles cause I had to go home teaching and was there for THREE HOURS. I'm not super happy with my companion rn.
|
| | Had to run on my own cause I had piano right after school. It was good, but my legs were pretty sore and tight.
|
| | Speed today since I am not racing tomorrow. I did three sets of four 400s that were supposed to be at two seconds slower than mile pace, mile pace, and then two seconds faster than mile pace. My splits were 71, 73, 72, 72, 70, 67, 71, 70, 67, 69, 69, and 71. Pacing was a little all over the place but I was pretty happy with it since I was supposed to being hitting 76s the first set, 74s the second, and 72s the last and I was faster than that the whole time. Cooled down to 8.
|
| | This was the first time I have hit double digits for a while, so it felt really nice! Also, our day date for prom yesterday was super fun and I'm super pumped for tonight!
| |
| | Distance run plus a family walk
|
| | We had speed today, so I did a four mile warmup with thom, Asa, Landon, josh, and Connor. Then did 2 by 200 800 400 200 200 200. Two hundreds were at eight hundred pace, fours at mile pace, and eights at two mile pace. I felt decent until the second set and then felt pretty bad. I hit most my splits for mile and two mile, but two hundreds were a little slow. Finished out to eight.
|
| | Sick run in the rain and hail today! It was pouring and the hail was freaking huge, but it is definitely a run I am gonna remember!

Region (2 Miles) 00:10:48 | | Today was a disappointing end to a not so great season. I'm not quite sure why things ended up the way they did because I have worked super hard this season, but it is what it is.
|
| | Went up and watched the rest of region today. Shoutout to everyone who killed it! Plus we went to In N Out and ice bathed at the creek after so that was sick.
|
| | Today was just an easy day, so we just did it a loop and called it good. We ice bathed at the creek and then played basketball with Zack and Craik from Lone Peak later that night. It was a good time!
| |
| | Got up at 8 and did a run on the rail trail. It feels soo good outside.
|
| Race: |
JV Region (1 Miles) 00:04:57 | | Today wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad either. I got under five again, so at least that is a plus! After the one I did the 800, but my legs were wrecked so I only got 2:16. Then I just cooled down to 4 and cheered on my teammates in the four by eight!
|
| | Our coach is going to have us do a two week break, but I am waiting until June because I have a Mexico trip that I'm not going to be able to run during, so I will do my break then. So I just ran with the guys who are going to state and pretty much felt wrecked. It was a nice run though!
|
| | Took it real easy today with a half mile warm up and then a workout for the root beer mile. I can already tell that it is gonna be rough, but I'm super pumped! After that we played ultimate frisbee and then I had to take off to go make up math lab...
| |
| | Just a five mile run today that was pretty nice. Tomorrow is the root beer mile, so I gotta prepare myself for that cause it's gonna be sick!
|
| Race: |
Lone Peak Root Beer Mile (1 Miles) 00:11:06 | | This was definitely the grossest thing I have ever done. I obviously don't have a stomach for root beer because I threw up ten times through the course of the race.... It was worth it though (for all the doubters) because it is something I will always remember! Next year I will have to train my soda drinking a little more.
|
| | So it has been a while since I posted! I've still been running but have kind of slacked on the blogging... Today was good, except it was HOT because I ran at 10:30. I had to sleep in since practice is gonna be bright and early every day the rest of the summer!
| |
| | First day of practice today! Our team seems to be pretty big and we have a cool new assistant coach named Collin who is pretty sick cause he's gonna run with us. We took forever getting started because it was the first day, but then just went on a nice five mile run past our new school. Afterwards we did abs, ice bathed in the creek, and had breakfast at Gan's house so shoutout to her for the food!
| |
| | Practice today was at Lehi, so we met there, did our miles, did abs and hips, and then I went biking with a good group of guys. I kind of died hard core because I hadn't eaten breakfast yet and I didn't know it then but they were going 50 miles... I only ended up going 40 because I didn't know which fork in the trail to take so I just waited for the other guys to come back. So pretty much I doubled the farthest I had previously biked, but felt like crap.
| |
| | It is good to finally be back from Trek! Today we did our new Dreammaker (not sure what we are calling it yet) which was pretty good! I got 9:10 and fifth overall so that was cool. I felt like it was a little faster course than our old one but I definitely enjoyed how it catered to being able to kick at the end. Afterwards I did four more miles and then abs and stuff.
| |
| | Today we had our first tempo run, so that was sick! It was only two miles, so luckily it wasn't too crazy. I was in the first group with Austin, Michael, and Chris, but we also had Brady do it with is and Collin and Parker did parts of it. The first mile we hit like a 5:35 and then the second was like a 5:25, so it was pretty good! I'm so pumped for this season!
|
| | We had a speed workout today that wasn't too bad except for the fact I was pretty darn tired and didn't feel super great. That's ok though because I'm leaving for Mexico in the morning! 3:30 am to be exact 😭. I'll be gone for 16 days, so peace out!
| |
| | So today since I am just starting again I helped pace a group for mile repeats. For the first two I paced the boys and got 5:50 and 5:55 then I paced the girls for the last one and got 6:17. It was good, but I feel kinda sluggish getting back into it!
|
| | Hey sorry I haven't blogged in forever.......... It was freaking hot today and I wanted to die, but I survived! Shoutout to Gan for making me start blogging again.
| |
| | Today was the first day of camp! We went up to Memory Grove in Salt Lake, which is like a secret canyon in the middle of downtown. It was pretty rough uphill for the first five miles (we were going like 7:10-7:15 pace) and then on the way back hit some pretty low six minute miles. After the run we did exercises and ice bathed (twice) and played some games. It was AWESOME!!

Brooks Launch 3 Miles: 10.00 |

| | Day 3! We went up to Park City and did a progression run, which went pretty well. I was tired, but I did decent in it!
|
Boston Kinvara 7 Miles: 10.00 |
|
| | Getting to the peak of marathon training! We drove up to Big Cottonwood canyon at 5 am and ran from the top of Guardsmen Pass to the bottom of the canyon! We were supposed to take it easy, so my pace was like 7:30's so not crazy. It was good, but I am super tired.... 😂
|
Brooks Launch 3 Miles: 20.00 |
| |
| | Just a recovery run today!
|
Brooks Launch 3 Miles: 6.00 |
|
| | Today was an easy distance run so we had to be sub 7 for our mileage. Practice was at 1 so it was super hot, but I survived.

| | Woke up early on the last day of our vacation and went on our run. My knees were sore today, but felt better towards the end so I was happy about that. Now I can finally start my taper for the marathon in a few weeks!
|
Brooks Launch 3 Miles: 21.00 |
| |
| | Haha well it has been a while... For those of you that don't know, I ran a marathon on Saturday so today was my first day back. I felt soooooo stiff, so I took it slow! 10:37 pace for three miles! 😂
